Migration to the New Site

Hello Everyone

As of this week I've eclipsed 3000 visits to my website. I know a lot of people return time after time to check up on what I've been up too. I've also had times where I've lapse (for months) at posting pictures. As much as I've actually been keeping up on posting, its come to an end. I've reached a cap on the amount of pictures I can post and therefore, my hand has been forced. I will soon be migrating to a new website. This site will act as my professional portfolio as well as a place to document my projects. I'll post again when I have the site completely up and running.

Thanks for checking in.

Window

"Window Shopping"

Not much to say here. I just think that these clothes look a lot better on mannequins... except maybe the middle outfits. I like that sweatshirt...

NFC Championship

1/23/11
"NFC Championship Couple"

We had about 15 people over at our apartment to watch the Green Bay Packers (my hometown team) roll over the Chicago Bears. It was a great time, and though I didn't get many shots, I liked this candid portrait I took of Josh and Chrissy sitting on the couch before the game.

Artistic Flair

1/22/11
"Night (Redux)"

Tonight I went out to shoot a night photo, trying to overexpose it so that it looked like it was day. It didn't work too well, so I took the photo (the original that is in the upper left hand corner) and dropped the exposure in processing, one step for every level you see on the photo. Then I increased the saturation across, as well as the vibrance. Every level has its own level of saturation as well, from 20-40 in the top row to 80-100 in the bottom row.

This photo was very detailed and because of that, I've spent 2 days trying to upload it. The only copy I could get online that wasn't rejected from the server was on Facebook. I then downloaded it off Facebook and put it online here. The quality suffers some because of that but at least its a solution. I hope you enjoy.

Watchtower

1/21/11
"All Above the Watchtower"

Today, I took a quick photo over by the University of Wisconsin's Red Gym. Not much else to say about this one.

Another Post

1/20/11
"Open Water"

I wandered around today down by the lake and found that though there were quite a few people out with their kites learning how to control for some kite-skiing or kite surfing later this year, there was also some open water right along the shore with some interesting... things sticking out of the water.

Artsy

1/19/11
"Urban Geometry"

This photo was taken outside looking in on a geometric display at Urban Outfitters on State Street. Boost the contrast a bit, and the saturation and vibrance. Just minor tweaks, but it turned out interesting. The lighting wasn't even, but it gives it a little contrast.

Tilt Shift

1/18/11
"Miniature Park Street"

I've never actually used a tilt-shift lens before, but I took the chance to take some photos today that I thought would work well for a faux tilt-shift through photoshop and I think that worked really well.

"Vintage Snowflake"

Normally I don't boost my saturation through the roof, but here I played with contrast, clarity, vibrance, and saturation, setting them all at 100. This gave a vintage look that added a little something to a picture of a large snowflake during a light snow storm.

Day Off

I took today off so to speak. My goal is to get more caught up on my blogging. Admittedly, I have missed a few days previously to this, and I will make all days up, but as for right now, with travel back to Madison and cleaning taking priority, I am just putting up as many photos as I can and going from there. Thanks for your understanding.

Day... ?

"Old and New"

I took this photo outside of my best friend's house during my last visit to see her before heading back to Madison. A nice dichotomy.

Day... ??

1/14/2011
"Cave Point"

My best friend Elizabeth and I went for a little drive to take some photos of a place up in Door County called Cave Point. The back lighting was pretty terrible for the most photogenic areas, but Elizabeth used the strong backlight to highlight me in a great picture that I'll post below. My photo was an HDR to make use of the light that I had.

Here is my friend's photo of me.

Day... ???

"Well Worn Classics"

I'm starting to get back into shoes. I have a few pair that I wear once a year, and a pair that I wear every day. I don't know why Samba's are only just getting slight recognition as "classic" shoes, but I rock them every day and they always look great.

"Taste of India"

I love everything about this. The food, the look, and the way that it makes me want more Lamb Masala.

I love the way the red plays off the snow in almost any situation. An easy win for me.

"The Man Who Taught Me How to Play..."

This photo is very special to me. I took this photo of my grandfather's hand as we played a game of cribbage. I visited my grandparents one last time before heading off to school, getting lunch with my grandma, and helping my grandpa with computer problems, as well as playing a game of cribbage as we always do.  He taught me to play on summer vacation when I was probably about 7. Now, 14 years later, we still play. Sadly, this time, I beat him.

Day... Something

1/9/2011
"Self-Portrait"

I thought this would be an interesting play on perspective, however, because I was out of the normal focus area, I had to manually focus this photo, and it wasn't perfect. However, I do think it gives the photo a little something special.

Place Holder

1/8/2011
"Eye"

This is really an interesting reflection of how your eyes perceive color with only a few colors as reference points. Elizabeth's eye is blue on the rim and fades to almost a burnt orange tone, but without any other reference (being that her face is black and white), it seems a LOT more orange or brown.  Its quite interesting how taking away other colors changes the ones that are left.

I'll figure this day out...

1/7/2011
"Tilized"

I saw these colors at the local Panera Bread and had to take a photo. Now I'm just wondering if this photo is not level all the way across because of barrel distortion or because of the tiling job...

Almost Untitled

1/6/2011
"St. Brennan's Inn"

This photo was taken at about 8:00 pm. It was terribly cold, and after less than 30 minutes out in the cold, I couldn't even push the shutter trigger down. I picked this photo just because I thought the sky looked incredible.

Puppy!

1/5/2011
"Sleep Puppy"

This photo was taken at my best friend's house. Her puppy (granted 6 year old puppy is still a puppy to me) was curled up in an adorable ball on the couch and sleeping away. I couldn't help but take a photo.

Full disclosure, this photo takes place of any photo on this date that I should have taken but didn't. But at least there's a cute puppy!
